Alex McDougle is a biological anthropologist interested in race, health and structural violence. She received a Bachelors in Anthropology with High Honors from the University of Hawai’i at Mānoa in 2015. Her undergraduate thesis focused on the potential for subadult skeletal analysis as a means of understanding agricultural shifts in the Southeast Asian Neolithic. Shortly after Alex was named a 2016-2017 Henry Luce Scholar and spent a year in Phnom Penh working with the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts. Her work in Cambodia including collaborations with The Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum and the National Museum of Cambodia
Alex is presently a Masters Student in Anthropology studying with Dr. Rachel Watkins. Her research is focused on the biological implications of racism and structural violence in Black Communities in the U.S.
