Welcome. There are many interesting developments in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics and we are hopeful that even bigger developments are just around the corner.
- Most recently, we just added three new tenure-track faculty members: Tuncay Alparslan, Anna Amirdjanova, and Inga Maslova.
- Enrollments and numbers of undergraduate majors and minors in the department have been steadily increasing. As of March, we have 43 undergraduate majors in math and statistics.
- This summer we welcome our first class of students to our Math for America program. This is the first DC-area chapter of the prestigious program that recruits and trains top-notch high school math teachers.
- In fall 2011, we will be moving to AU's main quad in the building currently occupied by the School of International Service.
