Jack Child and Alan Kraut have joined the prestigious list of University Professors, the university’s highest rank and an honor that recognizes outstanding scholarship, teaching, and influence.
Child is a professor of Language and Foreign Studies who has authored 13 books and more than 100 articles and book chapters. Known as an engaging and innovative teacher, he combines Latin American culture, politics and ethics.
Kraut is a historian whose expertise in migration, immigration, and health policy has established him nationally as a scholar of renown. His critically acclaimed books— eight in all— and his extensive publications have earned him numerous awards and honors.
Both are in the College of Arts and Sciences. The other university professors are H. Kent Baker, Kogod; Nicolas Kittrie, Washington College of Law; James Mittleman, School of International Service; and Rita Simon, School of Public Affairs.
