First Time Non-Degree and Visiting Student Registration

First-time nondegree applications are no longer being accepted for the Fall 2016 term. If you have questions concerning a non-standard Fall 2016 course that begins at a later date, please contact AU Central at aucentral@american.edu.

 

Information concerning registration for First-time Nondegree students for Spring 2017 will be available in late October. Please check back for updates! Thank you.

 

Continuing Nondegree Students:

If you have taken classes at American University previously as a nondegree student, information concerning registration can be found

Please note: Continuing nondegree students are registered by the department in which their classes are housed.

Degree Seeking Students:

Please note that if you are registering for the first time as a degree-seeking student, the

Office of the Registrar site has information pertaining to your registration procedure.


 

 

Important Note for International Students

All F-1 and J-1 international students who are enrolling at American University for the first time or for a new program are required to bring their passport, I-94 and I-20 or DS-2019 to International Student Services (ISS). Non-native speakers of English, regardless of citizenship, must take an English language proficiency test before they register. International students in F-1 or J-1 student status should refer to specific instructions for international students. International students in F-1 or J-1 student status are not eligible to enroll as nondegree students.

Registration

1. Review the Schedule of Classes.

2. Be sure that you have reviewed and met all the prerequisites.

3. Complete the enrollment form

Registration for courses is subject to space availability and confirmation of eligibility. You will receive notification from AU Central with next steps in the enrollment process within 3-5 business days. Payment for classes is due upon the first day of class. Failure to comply
with payment schedules may result in a financial restriction being placed on
your account which would prevent any future registration or proof of completion
of classes, including an official transcript, from being requested.
If you need to change your
schedule for any reason, please contact AU Central.  Failure
to attend classes or pay your invoice does not automatically withdraw you from
classes.
 Your tuition will be
refunded based on your withdraw date and the
academic calendar. Refund dates for Summer Courses follow a special summer calendar.
