Molecular evolution, population genetics, & molecular systematics.

Current Research Projects:

• Functional role of codon bias in the Drosophila alcohol dehydrogenase gene.
• Computational analysis of exonic splice splicing enhancers (ESEs).
• Phylogeography of cave and surface spring populations of the freshwater amphipod Gammarus minus inferred from mitochondrial and nuclear genes.
• Molecular systematics of three sympatric species of Illex squid in the North Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean Sea.
• Genetic divergence of Atlantic and Pacific populations of the red squid Ommastrephes bartramii .

Teaching:
I teach undergraduate and graduate level courses for biology majors, including Genetics with Laboratory (BIO-356), Molecular Biology (BIO-583), and Bioinformatics and Genomics (BIO-596).
