Center for Israel Studies
- Maurice Roumani was Associate Professor of Political Science and Middle East Studies, as well as the founder and Director of the J.R. Elyachar Center for the Study of Sephardi Heritage at Ben-Gurion University. Dr. Roumani has held research and teaching positions at universities in the United States, Israel, and Italy. His fields of interest are: International Relations, Middle East and North African Politics, Minorities in Arab countries, and Relations between Islam and Judaism. In addition to articles and chapters in books on these subjects, Dr. Roumani is the author of From Immigrant to Citizen: The Contribution of the Army to National Integration in Israel; The Jews from Arab Countries: A Neglected Issue; Ethnicity, Integration, and the Military, edited with Henry Dietz and Jerrold Elkin. His most recent book is The Jews of Libya: Coexistence, Persecution, Resettlement.
