Sara Omar

Professorial Lecturer Critical Race, Gender and Culture Studies Collaborative

Sara Omar has been interested in studying the logic, contexts, and heritages that have shaped early Islamic discourse on gender and sexuality and continue to inform Muslim praxes today. Her areas of research and teaching interests focus on issues pertaining to women, gender, and sexuality in the Middle East and in the classical Islamic tradition, scriptural hermeneutics, and the development of Islamic law and religious authority.
