The Department of Language and Foreign Studies supports the growing interest in the Middle East and North Africa with an expanded program for Arabic language. Courses range from Elementary Arabic to advanced levels. Faculty help students attain proficiency in listening, speaking, and reading the language. Listening comprehension exercises are stressed at all levels and activities make use of multimedia resources. Advanced courses emphasize more complex grammatical structures in culturally authentic contexts through speaking, reading and writing skills. Arabic communication between instructor and students is a regular feature of all classes.
