Facilities Management : We Make AU Facilities Safe,
Functional and Attractive
Don MacIntire assumed leadership of Housekeeping Services, as part of the Facilities Management Department, in May 2006 after arriving on campus in September 2005.
After graduating from Wheaton College, near Chicago, with an economics/business degree, Don has gained management experience over the past 32+ years serving in various capacities in the healthcare and higher education field working with ServiceMaster and Aramark. This extensive background includes responsibilities in housekeeping, laundries/linen management, transportation, appliance/furniture inventories, recycling, and a regional manager position. Most recently Don led the Residential Housekeeping staff at George Washington University, and received an award in 2005 from the Residential Property Management Staff for outstanding service to residential student life.
With his “management by walking around” style, Don can often be seen briskly touring campus interacting with customers, encouraging employees, and seeking ways to improve the cleanliness and appearance of the buildings. Don leads a dedicated team of 100+ staff members and managers whose desire is to be a productive, responsive and involved support to the staff, faculty and student body. As part of his duties of leading the Housekeeping staff this year, Don will be focusing on developing a clear vision for the department, expanding the “team cleaning” efforts on campus, working with others towards improved recycling in the residence halls, and developing and managing a university “green cleaning” program.
