Summer Aid Application

Institutional aid is not available for the summer sessions. However, you can apply for federal aid by completing the following steps. Please note that any federal aid awarded for the summer may impact your eligibility for spring 2010 aid.

  1. Complete the 2009-2010 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
  2. Complete either the undergraduate or graduate AU Summer Aid Application (located on the right).
  3. Complete any additional documents listed on the portal under the "Financial Aid: Missing Documents" page.
  4. Enroll in at least 6 credits (half-time status) to be eligible for federal student loans.
  5. If needed, complete either the Parent PLUS Request (undergraduates) or the Graduate PLUS Request (graduates) for additional PLUS loan funds.
  6. If needed, submit an alternative loan application to the lender of your choice. Once your application is complete, the lender will forward a certification request on to our office to verify your enrollment and eligibility.

You will be notified of your summer awards in early May via the student portal. Please contact our office should you have any questions.

To be eligible for summer financial aid, you must be meeting Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP). Once spring semester grades are available at the end of May, your SAP status will be reviewed. If you are failing SAP at that time, your aid for the summer will be canceled.
