Throughout the program, you’ll meet and work with prominent real estate associations.

Kogod students can network with major real estate groups throughout the Greater Washington Metropolitan Area. MSRE students have gained experience working with National Association of Industrial and Office Professionals (NAIOP), International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) and the Urban Land Institute (ULI).

You’ll attend networking events, site visits and listen to guest speakers on campus. Past tours include The Wharf, City Market at O and Cathedral Commons. The program also offers an annual trip to New York City, providing an inside-look into the real estate community in the Big Apple.

I can approach problems from new angles now.

One of my favorite parts about my classes is that they're integrated with other programs. For example, in my Principles & Investments class, we analyzed a land transaction, which involves assessing value and determining how to complete the transaction. Michael Grein, MSRE '15, loves participating in the annual Real Estate Games, co-hosted by Kogod. The event brings together over 115 companies for a day of sports competitions at AU that benefit Type I diabetes.

For Grein, the event is also about forging and building relationships. "It gives AU students and alumni the opportunity to network with people in the industry, rather than having to reach out via phone or e-mail," Grein says.

The core curriculum offers cutting-edge training in underwriting and financial modeling, financial analysis and urban planning and sustainability, including LEED certification. Faculty provide instruction in Argus, CoStar, Bloomberg, and other industry-specific software. 

You may take electives in finance or other relevant areas of interest in the business school, offering the flexibility to customize your degree based on your intended career track.

The MS Real Estate program can be completed on a full or part-time basis. Full-time students graduate within 12 months; part-time in 24 months.

The program is 30 credit hours total, 9 of which are electives. Entry is permitted in the Fall or Spring semesters.

From 2014 - 2016, 100% of May graduates within six months of graduation were working, in grad school, or both.

In Fall 2016, 90% of the MSRE students were Full-time. 60% were male and 40% were female, and nearly half the student body represented a minority.
