In an increasingly competitive job market, students at Kogod are giving themselves an edge over the competition by being involved in the American University Financial Management Association chapter (FMA).
If the Financial Services and Information Technology Lab (FSIT Lab) is the focal point for business education programs where faculty, students and practitioners use work on a variety of real time projects, the AU FMA chapter is also a place that exposes students to the real world. Active FMA chapter members can realistically examine the professions they desire to pursue by networking with business professionals, attending specialized conferences and continuing to re-evaluate their career goals.
Managing their future career means finding the right solutions to the increasing time demands, a competitive job market, multidisciplinary business culture and advanced technologies. To meet these challenges students understand they have to focus on continual learning, career guidance, leadership technical skills and networking opportunities. The AU FMA chapter exposes students to the finance world.
The AU FMA chapter has earned again the FMA Superior chapter award given to fewer than 5% of FMA chapters in the world. In order to receive this award, the AU FMA chapter had to meet a number of specific criteria and to demonstrate exemplary chapter management. This is a proof, our students want to excel in their coursework and want to advance the finance profession.
“I am so proud of their outstanding contributions during the year. Definitely, our FMA club members earn more than a diploma upon graduation; they get a realistic view of businesses and professions they would like to pursue” said Octavian Ionici, Faculty Adviser of the AU FMA chapter.
