The Rothberg International School of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem Summer 2010 Programs and Courses.
The Rothberg International School would like to invite applicants for the Summer Courses, which will run from June 29 to July 27, 2010 in Jerusalem. The program includes courses in English, extracurricular activities, on-campus housing, financial aid, and is a great way to get a taste of the richness of Jerusalem while engaging in intensive learning. The courses include lectures, group discussions and visits to relevant museums and sites.
For those interested in the Middle East and the Peace Process Rothberg's Summer Courses offer a multi-faceted approach. Course titles this summer include The Arab-Israeli Conflict: Political and Religious History, Conflict Resolution from Theory to Practice: Israel as a Case Study, Public International Law: The Case of Jerusalem and The Emergence of the Modern Middle East.
This program is open to undergraduates, graduates and those who are interested in continuing to learn about Israel and its history and culture. Participants will earn 3 three credits per course from the RIS. Applicants should apply online, and need to submit a transcript, letter of recommendation and photographs. AU Abroad is proud to announce its first study abroad program in Syria. Partnering with CET Academic Programs and the University of Aleppo, we will be offering an intensive Arabic immersion program starting in Summer 2010 . Full details on the program can be found at Summer Arabic Language Immersion Program.
This program is geared toward students who have completed at least four semesters of college level Arabic. The application deadline is March 15, 2010.
Remember: Mobility awards of up to $1,500 are available for summer language immersion programs for AU undergraduate students.
The Washington College of Law at American University also offers opportunities to spend a semester at Istanbul Bilgi University in Turkey and the Turkey Summer Law Program.
American University Alternate Breaks programs send AU students on foreign experiences during school vacations, with the mission "to critically reflect on their role in the global community through service, activism, academic inquiry and leadership."
Winter Break 2009 trips are planned for Senegal, Guatemala, and the Thai-Burma Border. Breaks regularly also have Middle East destinations, and we will post them here when this is the case.
