After Hours Care and Emergencies Sibley Hospital

With its professional service and close proximity to campus, Sibley Hospital's Emergency Department is always available for American University students.

Sibley Memorial Hospital's Emergency Department is geared toward treating major and minor emergencies in the shortest time possible. To answer area needs, the Emergency Department is fully staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week by board-certified emergency physicians and nurses with an average twelve years of emergency experience.

Faster Care, with separate and quick check-in, is available to treat minor emergencies or illnesses more efficiently.

Sibley Hospital is a six-minute car ride from campus. It is accessible by the D6 and M4 Metrobuses as well as the Number 23 Ride On bus.

If you live on campus and you or someone you know is experiencing a medical emergency, contact Public Safety at 202.885.3636 to coordinate transportation to Sibley’s emergency room.

If you live off campus, have a friend drive you or call a cab or ambulance.
