The Berkshire Apartments leasing office is open from 1pm-5pm on Sundays.
What do I need to bring?
Each apartment is furnished. You should bring your own sheets, linens, kitchen supplies, dishes and glasses, television, etc.
Do residence hall policies still apply to me?
Yes. Although you will be living in the Berkshire, Residence Hall policies still apply to you. Alcohol is not permitted in any American University residence halls, including apartments rented in the Berkshire, regardless of whether or not the resident is 21. Washington Semester students will go through the same process with Student Conduct if they are caught consuming or being knowingly and willingly in the presence of alcohol in the residence halls and in the Berkshire.
Will my roommate also be a Washington Semester Student? Can I request to live with a friend?
Yes, we house our American University Washington Semester Students together over the summer. In order to be placed with someone you know, BOTH students must make the request in writing (either on the application or in an email to firstname.lastname@example.org). If both students request one another, we do our best to meet those requests. Requests that are not mutual will not be honored.
Can I purchase a meal plan?
Yes, summer meals plans are available. You can purchase a summer meal plan during your application process or once you have arrived on campus. EagleBucks will also remain active over the summer.
Can I receive mail? What is the address?
Washington Semester Students can send mail and packages directly to the Berkshire apartments. Please be advised that you must coordinate the arrival of your packages with your arrival date. For your summer address, please use the model below:
4201 Massachusetts Ave NW
