The following is a list of services that ISSS provides:
ISSS is committed to providing students, exchange visitors (international faculty and research scholars) and their dependents with accurate and timely services on immigration issues and questions. ISSS encourages everyone to become familiar with the ISSS office upon arrival. To ensure this commitment, an international student advisor is always available at the front desk to assist students and exchange visitors. ISSS also provides workshops on several important immigration issues and encourages students to attend. Additonally, ISSS publishes handouts on various F-1 immigration and J-1 immigration issues, such as work authorization, travel, and change of status, which are available from the ISSS office or website.
ISSS advisors are available to discuss personal, academic, and financial issues which may arise during the year. ISSS is ready to assist students and exchange visitors in resolving any such issues by contacting other departments or by acting as an intermediary or a referral.
Advocacy and Outreach
ISSS advocates for the interests of international students and exchange visitors through its leadership and membership in the university's International Campus Life Council, Orientation Team, and through collaboration with the Diversity Committee and Programming and Advising Coordination Committee. ISSS also coordinates with many regional organizations to promote cultural and educational exchanges, such as embassies, US Immigration Services (USCIS), United States State Department, Institute of International Education (IIE), and NAFSA: Association of International Educators.
