Sam Larsen is a Research Specialist at the Justice Programs Office. Working on the JPO's Drug Court Technical Assistance Project, Sam engages directly with problem solving courts, utilizing the extensive research of the School of Public Affairs and the expertise of its roster of consultants. Sam provides practical solutions to issues ranging from inter-agency cooperation to community outreach. Prior to joining the Justice Programs Office, Sam was a fellow at the Campaign for Youth Justice where he worked on national and statewide campaigns to end the practice of trying and incarcerating youth in the adult criminal justice system. He also served as an intern at the office of Congressman Bill Keating.
Sam graduated Phi Beta Kappa and Magna Cum Laude from American University with a BA in Law and Society. His studies focused on the interaction between the individual and legal institutions, focusing on alternatives to incarceration. In support of this course of study, he completed a semester abroad in Beijing, China and completed his senior capstone on the development of Rule of Law in modern China. Sam's work with problem solving courts at the JPO continues to inform and build upon his academic interests.
