Bio
Barbara Schecter has more than 30 years of experience leading fundraising programs for nonprofit organizations. Prior to joining the Investigative Reporting Workshop in 2008, she served as the Director of Development at the Center for Public Integrity. During her tenure at the Center, the organization's revenues increased six-fold. Schecter also has served as a development consultant to the California-based Center for Investigative Reporting and the Director of Institutional Advancement at the Project on Government Oversight (POGO).
She designed and executed fundraising programs for environmental, cultural and educational groups as well as for political organizations and campaigns.
