Please join us in welcoming Michael Keynes, Ph.D. as the new Associate Dean of Graduate Studies in the Office of the Provost. Dr. Keynes will be joining Graduate Studies on July 15, 2013. He comes to this office from the College of Arts and Science, where he has been the Director of Undergraduate Studies in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics since 2006. Michael earned a doctorate in Mathematics from the University of Washington. He came to AU from Purdue University Calumet, as a tenure-track faculty member in Mathematics Education in 2005.
Dr. Keynes will be instrumental in supporting American University’s strategic plan by working to enhance the development and implementation of, and compliance to, graduate academic standards, admissions criteria, exceptions policies, and the early stages of graduate program development and review. He will also assist in the design, development and implementation of relevant training programs for faculty, staff and graduate students. In addition, he will assist in activities related to enrollment management coordination, associated assessment efforts, as well as marketing coordination with the academic units and other university offices. In his role he will work across AU’s academic units to design, develop and implement a supportive graduate education structure and competitive programs that will help us achieve our institutional goals for increasing graduate enrollment.
