DIY: Record Company and Music Publishing Operations for Independent Artists and Writers This course explores how record companies and music publishing companies are run, forecast their revenues, and control their expenses. As a learning lab, students participate in the operation of Second District Records and ATA Records. Students also research and investigate resources that are available to independent artists and writers to exploit their creations through both traditional and non-traditional companies catering to the distribution, marketing, promotion and sale of music. Students also study how the conversion from analog to digital has changed the landscape for recording artists and songwriters. Prerequisite: MGMT-301, and MGMT-302 or MGMT-303 or MGMT-305.

Sustainable Products and Purchasing Sustainability is now a significant business driver, posing new challenges to businesses and offering opportunities for innovation. Regulatory-induced and voluntary management initiatives are stimulating improvements across the entire product lifecycle, from design through the supply chain to end users, and the creation of new markets for end of life materials. This course provides students with an understanding of how sustainability efforts impact product design, marketing, procurement, and overall product life cycle management. The course also examines the impacts of these changes on daily life and society.

Sustainability Strategy Capstone This capstone course builds upon previous course work in policy, society, and business, as students justify specific sustainability initiatives from a business perspective. Key topics include global strategic awareness of the business and natural environment, strategic thinking about the direction of a company, and general management perspective in envisioning and leading organizational change. Students learn how sustainability objectives can be incorporated into strategic planning and implementation of a business.
