Across the United States, discoveries in universities serve as the catalyst of the next generation of innovations that touch our lives – education software, business methods, communication tools, databases, environmental protection systems, multimedia products, biomedical technologies, and many more. These discoveries are aided by commercial partnerships – licensing innovations to enable their greatest impact.
The Vice Provost for Graduate Studies and Research in the Office of the Provost supports American University faculty who are making discoveries to secure protection of their intellectual property and commercialize their innovations. The Vice Provost will facilitate between American University faculty and businesses interested in their work, and will undertake efforts to secure patents and licensing for their innovations.
Members of the AU faculty are encouraged to complete the Innovation Disclosure Form and submit it to the Vice Provost for Graduate Studies and Research. The faculty will be contacted to discuss evaluation of the innovation.
