Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until all spots are filled. To ensure placement in your preferred course, consider applying early. Be prepared to upload an unofficial transcript to the application. If you have any questions, please email communityofscholars@american.edu.

The following materials are required before we can review your application:

1. Online Application The application requires a two-paragraph written response to the question, "Why do you wish to participate in Community of Scholars?" You may wish to compose your response before beginning the application.
2. Transcript The application includes a section enabling you to upload your transcript (a photocopy or unofficial version of your transcript is  sufficient). Please label your transcript with your last name before uploading it. If you have any transcript-related questions, please email communityofscholars@american.edu.
3. Recommendation Form After submitting your application, you will be sent a link to a recommendation form which you should forward to your teacher or counselor.

Next Steps

Your application will be reviewed after all application materials, including the recommendation form, have been received. Upon acceptance into the program, you will have two weeks to submit a $300 nonrefundable deposit. Your acceptance letter will include details on how to pay the deposit. Please note that Community of Scholars will follow prevailing AU guidance regarding COVID-19.
