Biography
Professor Boaz Atzili researches and teaches in the area of international security. His dissertation, "Border Fixity: When Good Fences Make Bad Neighbors," won the Kenneth N. Waltz Prize for the best 2007 dissertation in international security. His publications include "When Good Fences Make Bad Neighbors: Fixed Borders, State Weakness, and International Conflict," International Security, Winter 200607, and "The Virtues and Vices of Fixed Territorial Ownership," SAIS Review of International Affairs, SummerFall 2007. He has also written on the IsraeliPalestinian conflict, about conflict and state weakness in Lebanon, and about Germany's territorial policy. Prior to joining the School of International Service in 2008, Professor Atzili was a post-doctoral fellow at the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs at the Kennedy School of Government in Harvard University. He has also taught at Boston University, Tufts University, and Bentley College.
