Two American University School of Communication alumni were finalists for Cine Golden Eagle awards for student & youth media. Vanina Harel (SOC/MFA '16) was nominated for her documentary, "Vey nou Lagon," which explores fishing and environmentalism in Mauritius.

Matthew Lucas (SOC/MFA '16) was nominated for narrative media as the director and writer of the science fiction film, "Moonshot."  Lucas teamed up on this particular film with another alum, Wesley Hunt, who is a finalist for an American Society of Cinematographers award for his work on "Moonshot."
