Join us for SPA Fall Preview Day

The School of Public Affairs (SPA) will host Fall Preview Day that will begin with a social reception on Friday evening to be followed by a full day on campus on Saturday, November 11, 2017; 10:00am-5:00pm (EST). SPA's Fall Preview Day offers both prospective Spring 2018 and Fall 2018 master's students an opportunity to explore academic fit, engage with faculty and their future peer network, as well as experience the beautiful American University (AU) campus and the excitement of Washington, D.C. The experience is sure to enable students the privilege to envision themselves as part of the vibrant AU and SPA community.

The SPA Fall Preview Day agenda will begin with a social reception in the vibrant D.C. area on the evening of Friday, November 10. The experience continues on Saturday, November 11 with a robust agenda that will include faculty current issue talks, a career service professional outcomes and networking presentation, current student/alumni panel, as well as a session devoted to the application process and SPA’s merit aid strategy.

All Spring 2018 and Fall 2018 prospective graduate students are invited to attend. Make your travel plans now to join us! More details including a detailed itinerary and travel logistics will be offered to registered participants closer to the event.

An Exclusive Invitation Event-SPA Top Prospect Day

The School of Public Affairs (SPA) will host Top Prospect Day that will begin with a social reception on Friday evening to be followed by a full day on campus on Saturday, February 10 2018; 10:00am-5:00pm (EST). SPA's Top Prospect day is designed for candidates who have demonstrated strength through a compelling application file and/or priority affiliation. Top Prospect Day offers prospective Fall 2018 master's students an opportunity to explore academic fit, engage with faculty and their future peer network, as well as experience the beautiful American University (AU) campus and the excitement of Washington, D.C. The experience is sure to enable students the privilege to envision themselves as part of the vibrant AU and SPA community.

The SPA Top Prospect Day agenda will begin with a social reception in the vibrant D.C. area on the evening of Friday, February 9. The experience continues on Saturday, February 10 that will include faculty mini-class presentations, research centers, labs, and professional institute panel, a career service professional outcomes and networking presentation, current student/alumni panel, as well as a session devoted to the application process and SPA merit aid.

Fall 2018 prospective graduate students will be identified and extended an exclusive invitation. Travel vouchers are available. More details including a detailed itinerary and travel logistics will be offered to invited participants closer to the event.

The School of Public Affairs (SPA) will host Spring Ph.D. Admitted Student Day that offers a full day on campus on Thursday, March 22, 2018; 10:00am-5:00pm (EST) with a social reception to follow. SPA's Ph.D. Admitted Student Day offers Fall 2018 admitted doctoral students an opportunity to engage with SPA faculty as well as their faculty mentor, meet their peer network, as well as experience the beautiful American University (AU) campus and the excitement of Washington, D.C. The experience is sure to excite new students about the vibrant AU and SPA community.

The SPA Ph.D. Admitted Student Day offers a robust agenda that will include curriculum review and orientation with Chairs, Faculty Program Directors, faculty mentors and current doctoral students. The Ph.D. Admitted Student Day will culminate with an early evening, social reception.

All Fall 2018 SPA admitted doctoral students are invited to attend. More details including a detailed itinerary will be offered to admitted students closer to the event.

Join us for SPA JumpStart

The School of Public Affairs (SPA) will host SPA Jumpstart that will offer a robust agenda that will cover two days on the beautiful American University (AU) campus. The agenda will be designed to cater to all of SPA’s traditional, master’s degrees and will “jumpstart” new students’ academic, professional and social engagement in graduate student life. The agenda will offer a faculty panel addressing a current issue/topic, campus resource fair, housing bus tour, professional networking session, current student/alumni panel as well as a culminating social reception with skyline views of Washington, D.C. or on the banks of the Potomac (based on venue choice). SPA's Jumpstart offers Fall 2018 enrolled master's students an opportunity to further engage with: SPA faculty, staff and current as well as incoming students; campus and community resources; and their new Washington, D.C. home. The experience is sure to affirm for the SPA’s incoming cohort that their graduate school choice was absolutely ideal!
