Who are we?

SPA alumni

More than 20,000 worldwide, alumni of the School of Public Affairs work in state and federal government, as lobbyists, business executives, teachers, journalists, web designers, and attorneys, to name a few. More than 40 percent of SPA alumni live in the Washington, DC area.

SPA alumni are certainly leaving their mark. From television talk show hosts to Members of Congress, check out some of SPA's notable alumni.

How to get involved

SPA sponsors many events each year and is involved with the university-wide activities as well. Check out the current calendar of events for the upcoming months. Other ways which alumni can become involved include:

  • Coordinating special events (i.e., happy hour, BBQ, etc.)
  • Talking with a prospective student about attending American University
  • Assisting in planning or hosting an alumni or student event in your city
  • Serving as a mentor to current students or other alumni
  • Participating as a donor to a SPA project or program
