AU Memo Letterhead
January 22, 2018

Dear AU Community:

I am writing to tell you about developments related to trustee Ross Levinsohn.

Late last Thursday night, National Public Radio published a story alleging several instances of inappropriate conduct and allegations of sexual harassment while at two of his former places of employment. Subsequently, Mr. Levinsohn voluntarily agreed to take an unpaid leave of absence from his job as CEO of the Los Angeles Times.

As a result of the news reports, the AU Board of Trustees' Executive Committee swiftly convened last Friday to discuss the matter. Shortly after, the board communicated with Mr. Levinsohn at which time he voluntarily agreed to take a leave of absence as a trustee. During this time, all of his board activities and university participation will be suspended.

Mr. Levinsohn has denied the allegations and they are under investigation by his current employer. At the same time, we take these allegations seriously and wanted to inform you of actions taken.

The Board of Trustees will continue to monitor the situation and will be in close communication with university officials.

Sincerely,

Jack Cassell
Chairman, AU Board of Trustees
