Jake Nieb (left) and Brian Hamel (right) both won the Outstanding Scholarship for Undergraduates award.

(Two recipients named)

CRITERIA: This is a highly competitive award to recognize the nominee’s sustained excellent academic record and exceptional academic success as exemplified by extraordinary publications, research, creative work, merit awards, or competitive selection for presentations at regional and national academic societies and conferences. Nominated students must be graduating seniors who are eligible to participate in the December 2016 or May 2017 commencement ceremonies.

  1. Students, faculty, and staff of the AU community may nominate students for the Outstanding Scholarship award.
  2. Nominations must be submitted to the nominee’s school/college dean by March 24, 2017, at 5 p.m. via the online nomination form. Supporting materials (letters, resumes, examples of student work) should be attached to the portal nomination form in PDF format and as one document.
  3. Before completing the nomination, please review the criteria and submission process.
  4. Each nomination letter must reflect the criteria identified in the award. We discourage letters that intend to capture nominations for more than one award.
  5. From this initial pool of nominations, the deans of CAS, Kogod, SIS, SOC, and SPA will select and forward two nominees to the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Studies by March 28, 2016.

To nominate a student, fill out the nomination form through the AU portal beginning Jan. 23, 2017. Your nomination forms can be saved and edited until the nomination deadline.
