2014 Service Award

2014 Award for Outstanding Service to the University Community recipients Jessica Nesbitt (CAS '14) and Katarina Brunette (SIS '14).

CRITERIA: Student must have been admitted to an undergraduate or graduate degree program as of September 2015. Requires demonstration of unique contributions and sustained service that will leave a lasting impact on the University community, whether through student government, public service, organizational leadership, or a combination of several categories. Nominated students must be eligible to participate in the December 2015 or May 2016 commencement ceremonies.

Nomination Process

Nominations Open: February 19, 2016

DEADLINE: March 18, 2016 at 5 p.m.

Nomination Instructions:

  1. Students, faculty, and staff of the AU community may nominate students for University Student Awards. We also accept and encourage self-nominations.
  2. Please submit nominations to the nominee’s school/college Dean via the online form. You can edit nomination forms until the nomination deadline.
  3. For the nomination form, we require basic student information, a list of key achievements, a nomination narrative (letter), and supporting documents (including a current resume and up to three letters of recommendation). Other supporting materials may include examples of student work on and off campus that show how the student meets the criteria of the award. Submit documents in PDF format.
  4. Our system will notify student nominees of their nomination via email once the nomination form is saved. Nominees will be able to upload additional supporting materials.
  5. The nominator or student nominee should collect recommendation letters and upload them to the nomination site. If recommenders prefer to keep their letters private, they may submit them directly to
  6. Nomination materials must reflect the criteria identified in the award. We discourage recommendation letters that intend to capture nominations for more than one award.
  7. From this initial pool of nominations, the deans of CAS, Kogod, SIS, SOC, SPA, and WCL will select and forward two nominees to the Vice President of Campus Life by March 28, 2016.
