NYC Site Visit Trip

Winter Break: January 10-11, 2017

The Career Center, Kogod School of Business, School of Communication and Office of Development and Alumni Relations invite you to participate in the NYC Site Visit Trip January 10-11, 2017.

Designed for career exploration and in-depth networking, the trip offers a select cohort of 25 students exposure to career paths and industry trends as well as exclusive access to AU alumni living and working in New York City. 

Networking Opportunities

Attend site visits over the course of the two days and have the opportunity to engage with alumni and employers at an intimate student-alumni networking reception on January 10.

Application Process

Sophomores, juniors, seniors, and graduate students interested in pursuing a career in marketing, advertising, public relations, journalism, television, film, or a related field are eligible to participate. Preference will be given to those who demonstrate a career focus and professionalism through the application process. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, so get yours in as soon as possible.

Application Requirements:

  • Cover sheet (attached to the job description)

  • Resume

  • Unofficial transcript that demonstrates a minimum GPA of 2.5 (transfer students/first-year graduate students may submit their most recent transcripts from their previous institutions).

  • Statement of purpose in 300 words or less that addresses what you hope to gain from the trip and your expectations for how the trip will impact your career development.

Applications will be accepted through AU CareerWeb / Kogod CareerSource beginning Wednesday, October 26 at 9:00 a.m. and ending on Monday, October 31 at 11:59 p.m. Under Jobs & Internships, select All Jobs & Internships and search for position 119460 in the "Find jobs..." search bar. 


As space is limited, the trip fills quickly. Applications will be reviewed in the order in which they are received and evaluated on the quality of the application materials. Preference will be given to those who demonstrate a career focus and professionalism through the application process. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed. Students will be notified of their selection status by Wednesday, November 9th.

Participant Requirements

  • Attend a pre-departure orientation on Tuesday, November 15, from 5:30 –7:30 p.m., in Ward 2.
  • Attend all scheduled events during the NYC Site Visit trip, beginning at 8:00 a.m. on January 10 and ending by 6:00 p.m. on January 11.
  • Submit a $100 nonrefundable registration fee* (cash, credit, or debit). *Financial Assistance may be available if financial challenges exist. (Note: This fee is waived for Pell-eligible students, while other applicants may be considered for reduced fees.)
  • Students are responsible for their own arrangements and costs associated with travel, accommodations, and all meals unless otherwise indicated in the final schedule.
