Next spring, the 10th annual Emerging Arts Leaders Symposium will be held at American University. As we mark this milestone, we are taking a moment to reflect back on what has led us here, both as individuals and as a field of arts managers. While there is much to recognize and commemorate, it is not a time to rest on our laurels. Rather, this is an opportunity to look ahead and actively pursue a future that is inclusive, sustainable, and in which the arts are celebrated and woven throughout all of our lives.
Our 2017 theme, Focus Forward, is a call to action, a rally to use our collective strength and potential to not only envision the future, but to make it so. It is the chance to ask “what’s next?” and then to see it through. The success of the arts is dependent upon those who are willing to do the work, face the challenges, and participate in a collaborative effort to promote the arts for everyone. We hope you will join the conversation.
