With over 25 shows a year, the American University Museum always has something new and provocative scheduled, including Artists' Receptions, Gallery Talks, panel discussion, Kids@Katzen, guided tours, Yoga in the Galleries, concert series, and more!

Artists' Receptions

Mingle with artists and curators of new exhibitions six Saturdays a year in the Early Fall, Late Fall, Winter, Early Spring, Late Spring and Summer. Saturday openings are free and open to the public. Museum members enjoy access to exclusive exhibition previews on Friday evenings. Learn more about the benefits of membership below.
 

Gallery Talks

Gallery talks with artists and curators are held each season. These events are free and open to the public. See the events calendar or individual exhibition pages for upcoming talks. Unless otherwise noted, gallery talks are held in the museum.

Yoga in the Galleries

Yoga at AU Museum.

Each Wednesday (excluding holidays and closures) at 10 am, join Eva Blutinger for a peaceful, restorative Kripalu yoga class in the museum. Classes are $10 a session and free for museum members. Kids @ Katzen

Kids at Katzen

Our Family Day Kids @ Katzen program offers children from ages 5-12 and their parents a unique opportunity to engage with current exhibitions and each create their own works of art in a hands-on experience. These bi-monthly art classes are held at 1 pm on Sunday directly outside of the museum entrance, unless otherwise noted. Cost is $15 per family of four per class and $5 for each additional child. Advanced online registration is suggested. Cash and check accepted prior to class. View updated schedule here.

WEEKLY GALLERY TOURS

Explore the galleries each Friday at the new time of 11:30 am with knowledgeable volunteer docents. Guided tours highlight current exhibitions and cover a new subject every week. Come to learn or just for fun! Tours run every Friday the museum is open, please check the schedule here. Tours are free and open to the public. Learn more about tours here. 

CONNECTED: MUSIC IN THE MUSEUM

The AU Museum has partnered with the new music collective INTERFERENCE Intermedia to bring new music and new media to Washington, DC. Formed in 2015 by composer Steven Antosca and AU faculty members William Brent and Nancy Jo Snider, INTERFERENCE is the Ensemble-in-Residence for the Connected series, focusing on the use of technology in composition and performance. The next Music in the Museum concert will be Thursday, April, 21 2016. Concerts are presented in partnership with the Cultural Services of the Embassy of France.
