Online Learning Group

The Online Learning Group
  • offers training and individual consultations to faculty teaching (or interested in teaching) online or hybrid courses.
  • shares alternative teaching models for continuing classes when inclement weather or other circumstances make it difficult to meet face-to-face.

We offer a group training class in the fall, spring, and summer. Contact facultyonline@american.edu for information on upcoming classes.

The Online Learning Group, in collaboration with the Teaching & Learning Resources Group, also offers training on emerging digital tools and platforms (such as social media) that can be used in both distance education and face-to-face classrooms.

To teach conventional online or hybrid classes at AU, faculty must successfully complete the CTRL course. Specialized programs (such as the Washington College of Law and the PMBA program) and vendor-partnered degrees receive separate trainings.

More Information

For information on the training courses or to request an individual consultation, please contact James Lee, Laura March, or email Faculty Online.
