The College has partnerships with a variety of organizations and schools to help fund and support your education. If you meet the criteria specified, please contact Lauren Tabbara for more information.

Americorps Education Award Matching Program

American University is proud to be a School of National Service. As part of this partnership, the College will provide matching funds to admitted AmeriCorps volunteers who are eligible to receive the Segal Education Award towards their CAS master’s degree. The admissions application fee is waived for AmeriCorps volunteers.

Requirements and details:

  • All volunteers must have concluded their AmeriCorps service and been awarded the Segal award before their CAS enrollment.
  • The amount of CAS funding will be at the level of the Segal Education Award, which is up to $7,395 per student. If a portion of the Segal award has already been used as payment toward an undergraduate loan/tuition, CAS will only match the portion that is applicable to the student's CAS graduate degree.
  • Volunteers will be asked to submit proof of available Segal funding for matching purposes. If a student has multiple Segal awards, CAS will review all award amounts and match them to the best of our abilities.
  • The combined total award amount that a student can be awarded is still no more than $7,395. Admitted students will also be considered for regular merit awards. If a student is recommended by the admissions committee to receive a higher form of award, then that award will supersede the matching fund for Segal.
  • Each awardee will receive a maximum of one award from CAS at any given time.
  • Students applying for any of our online programs are not eligible for the Segal matching fund.
