Gina Adams, SPA/BS ’80, and Charlie Lydecker, SPA/BA ’85, have been elected chair and vice chair, respectively, of the AU Board of Trustees.
Adams, senior vice president for government affairs at FedEx, has served on the board since 2007. A native Washingtonian, she came to AU on a prestigious Frederick Douglass Scholarship, which cemented her interest in law and policy.
“As chair, I look forward to continuing to be a good advisor and thought partner to the leadership of AU as we tackle important issues such as attracting and retaining a diverse student body and top-notch faculty and completing our $500 million Change Can’t Wait campaign.”
Lydecker is cofounder, chair, and CEO of Foundation Risk Partners, now one of the 20 largest commercial insurance operations in the country. A swimmer, he attended AU on a full athletic scholarship and joined the board in 2007.
“I love AU and the chance to give back,” he says. “As a former student-athlete, I am especially excited about the Student Thriving Complex, including the new Meltzer Center and the emphasis on inclusive excellence. AU is at a special time in its history, and I appreciate the chance to help the university grow and prosper.”
