Dear American University Community,

It is with deep sadness that the Office of Campus Life informs the AU community of the death of Hayley R. Mullins, a School of Communication senior who last enrolled in Spring of 2017 and was a member of the AU Soccer Team. Hayley passed away suddenly on October 28, 2017, in her home in West Hartford, CT.

As we mourn the tragic loss of a promising young student, we extend our sympathy to Hayley’s family and friends and those in the AU community who knew her. Hayley will forever be remembered for her compassion and magnetic personality. She was a great friend to many in the AU community.

Students seeking support are reminded that the Counseling Center offers drop-in hours Monday-Friday from 2-4 p.m. The Dean of Students staff is also available on a drop-in basis weekdays 2-4 p.m. Chaplains in the Kay Spiritual Life Center are available to assist community members. Faculty and staff may access support through the Faculty & Staff Assistance Program by calling 202-885-2593.

Funeral service will be on Nov. 2, 2017, at 10 a.m. at The Church of St. Timothy in West Hartford, CT. Information about a memorial service on campus will be shared as it becomes available.
