An international internship is an ideal way to make contacts for the future and acquire the experience you need to enhance your resume. The AU Abroad summer internship programs in Brussels, Nairobi, and Madrid allow you to enjoy all of the perks of living and learning in a dynamic city while gaining practical, professional, and intercultural skills.
Modeled on the internationally-recognized Public Affairs and Advocacy Institute, but in a European context, this institute in Brussels, Belgium introduces students to the art and craft of lobbying in the European Union (EU). Students are immersed in the strategies, tactics, methods, techniques, regulations, and ethics of lobbying in Europe. Drawing on their rich body of experiences, prominent lobbyists involved in all aspects of their profession offer lectures on EU legal systems, rule making, EU relations with national capitals, EU-United States relations, and comparisons between U.S. and European policy making.
Undergraduate students can spend the summer studying and gaining international business experience in Germany through Kogod's partnership with WHU- Otto Beisheim School of Management in Vallendar. The SIS Office of International Programs organizes a number of short-term, experiential programs abroad as well as internships abroad each summer. Some programs are faculty-led and others are courses offered at partner institutions abroad where students will be directly enrolled. Program locations change each summer to reflect the needs and interests of the SIS student population. The detailed curricula of the programs make them ideal for students who wish to concentrate on a specific region or topic area. Each one offers ample opportunity to interact with local and regional leaders, conduct field research, and engage in challenging internship positions.
