Bio

Molly Stech is General Counsel for the International Association of Scientific, Technical and Medical Publishers, a Europe-based organization whose mission is to advance trusted research worldwide. Prior to her affiliation with STM, she was an attorney advisor with the copyright group in the Office of Policy and International Affairs at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), following a similar position she held at the U.S. Copyright Office. She has also been a consultant to the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) on the issue of traditional cultural expressions, and was an Editorial Board member of Oxford's Journal of Intellectual Property Law and Practice (JIPLP). At the USPTO, her portfolio includes the WIPO Standing Committee on Copyright and Related Rights (SCCR), G20 and G7 digital work streams, Europe, and the nexus of copyright and artificial intelligence. Before attending law school, Molly worked at an auction house in New York and at two museums. She has published several law review articles on such topics as copyright as it relates to the visual arts, authorship, cultural property, and intangible cultural heritage. She is fluent in French.
