Professor Hilary Allen Appointed to CFTC’s Technology Advisory Committee

On March 30, 2023, the Commodities and Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) announced the newly constituted Technology Advisory Committee (TAC), which features Professor Hilary Allen amongst the Committee Membership. Sponsored by Commissioner Christy Goldsmith Romero, the TAC will provide “foundational knowledge about the technology, as well as the complex and nuanced impacts and implications of technology on financial markets.”

Commissioner Goldsmith Romero said “[t]o protect our markets from increasingly-sophisticated cyber attacks, to ensure responsible development of digital assets in a way that protects customers, and to ensure that the implications of emerging technologies like artificial intelligence are well understood, the CFTC requires advice from technology experts. Thus, the TAC membership was designed “to bring together well-respected and well-known leaders, thinkers, builders, and doers from the technology industry, federal leaders, academia, and public interest representatives.” For more information on Professor Allen’s work with the TAC, click here.
