Thanksgiving Week Schedule and Modalities

As you plan for the fall, please note that AU faculty have been encouraged to hold their Thanksgiving week class meetings online provided that the learning outcomes can be met through remote instruction. While some classes may need to remain in person and instructors are responsible for making the final decision, we expect that many classes will be held virtually. Your professors should be communicating their course modality for that week early in the semester. If you have any questions, please consult your syllabus and ask your faculty member directly.

As a reminder, classes on Monday, November 20 will meet at their usual time. In accordance with the 2023–2024 academic calendar, classes that normally meet on Fridays will meet at their usual time on Tuesday, November 21. Classes that meet only on Tuesdays are cancelled for that week. No residential classes will be held Wednesday, November 22 through Sunday, November 26. The above schedule and recommendation do not apply to the Washington College of Law or to programs with special calendars (such as the 4-term calendar).

We hope that this flexibility during the week of Thanksgiving will help to support many students in meeting family commitments, lowering travel costs, and recharging before the end of the semester.

Wishing you all the best for the academic year!
