American University students partnered with community activists to create a series of videos titled Stories of Strength. The series is a part of Professor Nina Shapiro Perl’s Community Storytelling course in the School of Communication (SOC).

Stories of Strength is a series of first-person short digital films featuring activists who lived in Washington, D.C. during the 1960’s and 70’s, also known as “The Years That Shook and Shaped Washington.” The students and activists collaborated with the Smithsonian Anacostia Community Museum, and social-service organization Ayuda.

SOC hosted a screening for Stories of Strength on December 9, 2015 in the Malsi Doyle and Michael Forman Theater.
