  1. Do you attend a partner institution? If you’re unsure, email washsem@american.edu or call 202-895-4900 to find out.
  2. If you attend a partner school, contact your home school’s WSP partner representative. If you are unsure of who to contact, email or call us.
  3. Your partner representative will explain what the application requirements are to apply to the program. Complete your home school’s requirements.
  1. Once you have completed your home school requirements, create an account.
  2. After you have created an account, complete the application.
  3. After you have submitted the first portion of your application, you must return to your account and complete supplemental items (once you refresh the page, supplemental items should be an option).

    Note: Your application will not be considered until you have submitted the required supplemental items.
  • Unofficial university transcript
  • Nomination from your home school
  • Unofficial copy of proof of English Fluency

As proof of English fluency, we accept the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), International English Language Testing System (IELTS), or Pearson's Test of English (PTE).
