Conference & Meeting Resources

As part of a one-stop-shop, we work directly with dining, meeting space, facilities, parking, and audiovisual departments to ensure your needs are met when hosting a conference on our campus. Make the most of your time at AU by exploring the variety of resources available to conference guests and visitors.

AV and Technology

Each event space features unique AV and technological capabilities included in the cost of rental. Contact your conference coordinator to explore what options are available based on your event needs. Should you need additional AV services beyond those provided, your dedicated conference coordinator will quote any added fees.

Campus Safety

American University police officers patrol campus regularly to ensure campus safety. In an emergency, contact AUPD's emergency dispatch at 202-885-3636. Find more information about American University Police.

For those staying overnight, our residence halls are accessible only by secure key cards. To further ensure guest safety, a conference assistant is stationed at each complex front desk.

For high profile events, please notify your conference coordinator to facilitate coordination with university police and emergency management.

Dining and Catering

On-Campus Dining

Visitors to American University are welcome to dine at our Terrace Dining Room, located in Mary Graydon Center (MGC). If your conference is interested in on-campus dining, please contact our office at conferences@american.edu or 202-885-8247 for pricing.

Catering

Need catering during your stay at AU? Our exclusive on-campus catering partner provides numerous dining options to fit your event needs. Your conference coordinator will connect you with the catering director to work out specific details of your function.

Parking and Transportation

Campus location

Our main campus is located at 4400 Massachusetts Ave NW, Washington, DC 20016. The East Campus Commons is adjacent to main campus at 3501 Nebraska Ave NW.

Parking

On-campus guest parking is available for $2 per hour or $16 per day at the School of International Service (SIS), Katzen, Spring Valley Building (SVB), or the surface lot at East Campus Commons. Parking pay stations can be found in the SIS, Katzen, and SVB elevator lobbies, or outdoors near the East Campus lot.

Public Transportation

American University's main campus is located less than a 13-minute walk from the Tenleytown-AU Metro station and numerous Metro Bus lines. Free shuttle buses provide the AU community easy access between main campus, the Tenleytown-AU Metro station, and the Spring Valley Building.
