Be Part of Eagles in Action

Give back to your local communities alongside fellow alumni through service projects in eight US cities.

By  |

Over two weekends in late April, Eagles in Action is bringing American University alumni together in service and solidarity within their local communities across the US. This year’s lineup for the annual tradition includes project sites in eight cities and regions, including: Seattle, Atlanta, Philadelphia, Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York City, and South Florida.

The projects are planned by AU’s Regional Alumni Chapters in collaboration with local community resource providers. From distributing vegetables, packing donations, and supporting outdoor cleanups, there are a variety of ways to give back alongside fellow AU alumni. (Look back at photos from Eagles in Action 2025 to get a taste of what's in store!)

Check out the lineup of project locations and register to volunteer at one near you!

Sunday, April 19

Seattle | 1 p.m.

Join Seattle Eagles at Georgetown Brewing for a food drive supporting the local community while reconnecting with your fellow alums. Please bring non-perishable food donations.

Friday, April 24

Atlanta | 4 p.m.

Join Atlanta Eagles for a meaningful day of service supporting Mimi's Pantry, which serves the entire Atlanta University Center (AUC) - including Clark Atlanta University, Morehouse College, and Spelman College. Volunteers will help transport, stock, and distribute fresh vegetables to both the student body and surrounding community.

Saturday, April 25

Philadelphia | 10 a.m.

Join Philadelphia Eagles in support of Cradles to Crayons, which provides children from birth through age 12, living in homeless or low-income situations, with the essential items they need to thrive. Volunteers will sort and inspect donated items before packaging them for delivery. Space is limited.

Boston | 10 a.m.

Join AU Boston Eagles for the third annual clean-up of the Minuteman Bikeway. We will support the local towns' maintenance and improvements for part of the combined 100+ mile path used by an average of 70K commuters. Please wear spring weather-appropriate, comfortable clothes/shoes for light walking and picking up trash. Gloves and water recommended. Attendees are invited to an optional lunch following the clean-up at Revival Cafe + Kitchen around 12 p.m.

Chicago | 10 a.m.

Join AU Chicago Eagles in support of the Harbour, a Des Plaines shelter that provides short-term housing to female youth ages 12-20, as we assist with a spring clean-up of their grounds. Pre-registration is required. All volunteers must submit a separate waiver and confidentiality agreement to participate.

Sunday, April 26

Los Angeles | 12:45 p.m.

Join Los Angeles Eagles in support of Project Angel Food, where we will prepare packaged meals and deliver them to our neighbors facing critical and life-threatening illness. Participants are welcome to bring their children that are 14 years and older.

New York City | 1 p.m.

Join AU NYC Eagles in support of Housing Works at their Gramercy Thrift Shop, assisting customers with items and donations, helping with merchandising, and organizing the sales floor. Housing Works is a NYC-based nonprofit fighting homelessness and AIDS through relentless advocacy, the provision of lifesaving services, and entrepreneurial businesses that sustain the effort.

South Florida | 4 p.m.

Join South Florida Eagles in support of the Jacobson Family Food Bank while sharing some school spirit at PopStroke Mini Golf. We ask all attending alumni to bring non-perishable food items to donate to our local food bank that serves the communities of Boca Raton and Delray Beach.
