Welcoming the Newest Alumni Board Members

This year brings a group of impressive new members to American University’s Alumni Board. Their diverse perspectives and insights will strengthen our already-dynamic alumni leadership. With a history dating back to the 1950s, the Alumni Board leads AU’s alumni association, providing perspective and insight to professional staff in outreach to alumni and improving student experience. On the board, all AU schools and colleges are represented, as well as myriad of professional industries, backgrounds, and generations.  

New Members Include: 

John Antokas, Kogod/BSBA ’12 *Returning for a second term 
Astoria, NY 
Founder, President/CEO, Metro Transportation Management & Design, Inc. 

John has served on the board of the New York Young Alumni Chapter since 2013. He was president from 2020-2022 and vice president from 2019-2020. He is also an Alumni Admissions Volunteer. He has served on the Career Programming Committee of the Alumni Board. 

Corey Atkins, SPA/BA ’05 *Returning for a second term 
Asheville, NC 
Government Relations Manager, Mission Health/HCA Healthcare 

Since graduation, Corey has maintained and engaged with a broad network of friends and colleagues from his time at AU. He served as an ambassador of the university by promoting athletics, events, and programs and interviewing prospective students. He previously served on the Campaign Committee of the Alumni Board. 

Steve Dresner, SOC/BA ’86 *Returning for a second term 
Gaithersburg, MD 
Senior Producer, NFL Network; The Weather Channel 

Since graduation, Steve has attended many events sponsored by the School of Communication and Kogod School of Business. He has represented NBC Washington and NFL Network at career events and has been a guest lecturer at SOC events and classes. He has also been a media member covering various athletic events. He serves on the Career Programming Committee of the Alumni Board. 

Hina Gir, SPA/BA ’12, SPA/MA ’14 *Returning for a second term 
Greenbelt, MD 
Project Director of Foreign Policy, Special Competitive Studies Project 

Hina maintains her connection to AU in numerous capacities, including as a volunteer for the Entertainment and Media Alumni Alliance. She has recruited volunteers and provided counsel on engaging alumni. In addition, she has mentored graduate students and helped them with job searches. Currently, she is working with AU faculty members to launch a project with her current organization. She previously served on the Strategic Alignment Committee of the Alumni Board. 

Sean Graham, Kogod/MBA ’11 *Returning for a second term 
Falls Church, VA 
Head Coach, Track and Cross Country, American University 

Sean remains connected to AU as head coach for the Track and Cross-Country team. He has been an integral part of helping to increase alumni donations to the team. Sean formerly served on committees for career programming and strategic alignment.

Richard Green, SPA-SOC/BA ’99, SOE/MAT ’03

Richard is intentional about attending events and supporting recruitment at AU. He has connected his personal and professional journeys by doing valuable networking, bonding with colleagues and friends about being alumni. 

Brandi Howard, CAS/BA ’09 *Returning for a second term 
Washington, DC 
Partner Associate, McGuireWoods LLP 

Brandi’s involvement with AU since graduation has been multifaceted. She works closely with the admissions office and helps students review their resumes and cover letters for job placement. She attends many AU events and is a member of the President’s Circle. She previously served on the Affinity Outreach Committee of the Alumni Board. 

Nile Johnson, SIS/MA ’11 *Returning for a second term 
Washington, DC 
Lead, Regulatory Transparency for Content Moderation – Trust & Safety, U.S & APAC, Google Inc. 

Nile served as an SIS Alumni and Friends Committee member from 2016-2017and served on the Strategic Alignment Committee of the Alumni Board. 

Thomas (Toby) McChesney, SPA/BA ’02 
San Jose, CA 
Vice Provost for Graduate Programs, Santa Clara University 

Toby currently serves as co-chair of the American University Alumni Chapter for the Bay Area and served as chair of the American University Alumni Chapter for Atlanta from 2008 to 2017. He was Assistant Director of Admissions in the AU Office of Admissions from 2003-2007 and also worked as a part-time freelance consultant for Kogod School of Business in 2016. 

Andrea Moore, CAS/BA ’88 *Returning for a second term 
Columbia, MD 
Management Analyst, Social Security Administration 

Andrea attends AU events and works closely with the university to recruit students for The Frederick Douglass program. She also has spoken to graduating students about her experiences in the program. She has served on the Career Programming Committee of the Alumni Board. 

Megan Nguyen Rummler, SOC/MA ’19 
Washington, DC 
Director, Internal Communications, QXO

Megan served as chair of the Asian American Pacific Islander Alumni Network from February 2022 to June 2024. Under her leadership, APIAN raised $41,000. In 2024, Megan served as co-chair of AU’s MCAR, representing APIAN. 

Emily Tillett, SOC/BA ’12 *Returning for a second term 
Arlington, VA 
Vice President, Jasper Advisors

Since graduation, Emily has worked with admissions as an ambassador by helping prospective students learn more about the School of Communication and AU at large. She has also served as an Alumni Mentor with SOC, offering career advice to rising seniors and graduate students. She previously served on the Awards Committee of the Alumni Board.
