Continuing Nondegree Students:
If you have taken classes at American University previously as a nondegree student, information concerning registration can be found here:
Please note: Continuing nondegree students are registered by the department in which their classes are housed.
Degree Seeking Students:
Please note that if you are registering for the first time as a degree-seeking student, the Office of the Registrar site has information pertaining to your registration procedure.
1. Review the Schedule of Classes.
2. Be sure that you have reviewed and met all the prerequisites.
3. Go to http://justask.american.edu
a. If you do not already have an American University email account, please click on the top of the page labeled Guest. Complete the demographic information listed under Register to create a one-time log in account.b. If you have an American University email account, please login using the link at the top right-hand side of the screen
4. Once you are logged in type Non-Degree Student Enrollment Form in the search box and click on the link with a shopping cart next to it. This will display the Non-Degree Student Enrollment Form for first-time nondegree students.
Registration for courses is subject to space availability and confirmation of eligibility. You will receive notification from AU Central with next steps in the enrollment process within 3-5 business days. Payment for classes is due upon the first day of class. Failure to comply with payment schedules may result in a financial restriction being placed on your account which would prevent any future registration or proof of completion of classes, including an official transcript, from being requested.If you need to change your schedule for any reason, please contact AU Central. Failure to attend classes or pay your invoice does not automatically withdraw you from classes. Your tuition will be refunded based on your withdraw date and the academic calendar. Refund dates for Summer Courses follow a special summer calendar.
All F-1 and J-1 international students who are enrolling at American University for the first time or for a new program are required to bring their passport, I-94 and I-20 or DS-2019 to International Student Services (ISS). Non-native speakers of English, regardless of citizenship, may be asked to take an English language proficiency test before they register. International students in F-1 or J-1 student status should refer to specific instructions for international students. International students in F-1 or J-1 student status are not eligible to enroll as nondegree students.
