Rat Floor

Josh measures rat floor with calipers

Over the summer of 2019, Josh Wilson worked in Mark Laubauch's neuroscience lab and was responsible for replacing the floors in their rat behavior boxes.

The previous floors were difficult to clean and maintain and incompatible with future experiments, so Josh was tasked with creating new floors that could be used in future studies.

He made the new floors with delrin rods and acrylic plates, which he designed and manufactured in DaBL. First, Josh measured the delrin rods' diameter. Next, he created vector designs for the acrylic brackets and cut them using the laser cutter. Finally, he assembled the floors.

The floors were successful and are currently in use in Dr. Laubauch's lab.
