University Announcement

Weather Status: AU in Modified Operations Status, Tuesday, 2/18

Began:

In person classes are cancelled and online classes will continue as normal

On Tuesday, February 2, American University remains in Modified Operations status. In person classes are cancelled and online classes will continue as normal. Students are required to attend any virtual class meetings and/or complete any coursework assigned. Employees working remotely as part of the university’s COVID-19 response are expected to continue normal telework while the university is in modified operations due to weather.
We will continue to monitor the situation and will communicate any changes to our operating status, services, or activities. Services that are currently being offered virtually will continue to be available virtually on Tuesday.
Also, please note the following about additional campus services:
Shuttle will operate on a modified schedule, if accumulation allows.

Bender Library will be closed. Virtual library services remain available.
The Jacobs and Cassell Fitness Centers are closed.
Research labs and facilities will remain open.
Residence hall desks for emergency housing students will be operational.
Dining is closed. Please reschedule any Tuesday One Card appointments.
The Market food pantry will be accessible 24/7 during this time.
Campus academic buildings will be closed, with the exception of Mary Graydon Center for study spaces.
The Student Health Center is closed and students can follow the emergency protocol for assistance listed on the Student Health Center website.
COVID-19 testing will not be administered today. Testing will resume when university returns to full operating status. Faculty and staff not in the essential worker category (Facilities, AUPD, Residential) do not have to make up for missed COVID-19 testing this week provided they have no contact with others while on campus or at their work site. Residential students are required to have one COVID-19 test this week due to the inclement weather and the disruption to testing.
If you have a question about a specific class or activity, please contact the instructor or event organizer.
The University's operating status decision applies to all activities in all University facilities, including the Main campus, Law School, and other off-campus buildings. Activities at non-AU locations will be governed by the operating status of that location.
