Peroxide Formers

Some peroxides can form dangerous explosives upon extended storage. Common examples are diethyl ether, methyl methacrylate, tetrahydrofuran (THF), and secondary alcohols. EH&S has implemented a program for tracking and evaluating all peroxide-forming chemicals in the Hall of Science. If you have any of these chemicals in your laboratory and haven't been contacted by EH&S about tracking and evaluation, please reach out to us!

First Aid Kits

EH&S replaced the expired components in the first aid kits in the Hall of Science laboratories. If you happen to notice that we missed a first aid kit in this update, reach out to EH&S!

Door Signs

EH&S has updated and distributed the laboratory door signs. These communicate the hazards within the laboratory to the AU community, as well as to visitors and first responders. Please contact us if any edits are needed!

Lab Safety Resources Site

EH&S compiled laboratory safety resources in a SharePoint site that is only accessible to members of the AU community. Click here to find laboratory hazard and emergency contact information, training requirements, training records, and a copy of the laboratory chemical inventory. Reach out the EH&S with any questions about access to the site.
