American University President Sylvia Burwell was recognized today with the Trailblazer in Gender Equity and Diversity Award at the Women Business Collaborative’s annual Action for Impact Summit. Burwell was selected by WBC, an alliance of women’s business organizations and business leaders building a movement to achieve equal position, pay, and power for all women in business, for her efforts to advance diversity at AU and throughout her career. President Burwell provided the following statement.

“I’m honored to be recognized with so many other great leaders and to be part of such an esteemed group. Thanks to WBC for recognizing the work of the team at American University that is moving our inclusive excellence work forward. Across the AU community, we believe that you can’t achieve excellence without being inclusive. While we’ve made progress, we still have much more to do. The work that WBC is doing is so important, and I know that together we can continue to advance gender equity and diversity.”
